Service, Maintenance & LEV Testing
Exposure to dust, fumes and vapour in the workplace can cause serious, long lasting health issues for workers. Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems should remove harmful airborne contaminants from the working environment before they can be breathed in. To ensure LEV systems are functioning effectively the law (as stated in PUWER) requires a periodic thorough examination and test at least every 14 months.
At the Woodwork Dust Control Company Ltd, we specialise in the delivery and management of planned routine inspections of LEV systems, helping private and public sector organisations across the UK meet their legal requirements under COSHH. Our dedicated team of P601 and P602 qualified extraction engineers combined with the latest IT monitoring and scheduling software enables us to provide customers with a complete managed solution including LEV testing, plant service and maintenance. We offer this service both for our own systems and those supplied by other companies.
What We Do
LEV Testing
Our procedure is to take static and dynamic pressure readings on all branches of the ductwork system and interpret these readings to produce air speed and volume data which is later incorporated into a written report compliant with the BOHS P601 /P602 qualifications.
Exposure Limits
Hardwood dust and softwood dust have been assigned maximum workplace exposure limits (WEL) of 5 mg/m3 (8-hour time-weighted average) under the COSHH Regulations. If required by your risk assessment we can undertake this test.
Service & Maintenance
This is an annual inspection to check all moving elements of the plant, filter condition, ductwork integrity, machine hood condition, slide damper operation, electrical loads, fluid levels where appropriate, seal and joint condition.
Reposting & Management
Following our testing and/ or maintenance of your LEV system a detailed report will be submitted including, as necessary, airflow and pressure measurements, checks on control effectiveness and exposure measurement. All reports are sent via email to the relevant person or team.
