Established in 1990 with just one outlet in Anglesey, Huws Gray has swiftly grown over the last three decades to emerge as the UK’s premier independent builders’ merchant. Their expansion, which includes both organic growth and strategic acquisitions like Ridgeons Timber Merchants, has seen them establish over 100 branches throughout England and Wales, catering to both trade professionals and DIY enthusiasts. To meet the demands of their increasing clientele, Huws Gray invested in their main sawmill including upgrading their dust extraction with a Woodwork Dust Control Company integrated system.
The mill uses a range of machinery including band resaws, crosscuts, planer moulder all of which have the potential to be operational at any one time. To service this demand WDCC technical sales representative Mike Lloyd specified a H/2/1065 close sided filter hopper unit with 30HP fan and automatic filter cleaning – the closed loop system with rotary valve allows the dust and chippings to be transferred into a trailer for regular large volume waste removal.

All new runs of ducting with tailored hoods, hand sweep shoots and manifold to the planer moulder were built to order at the Woodwork Dust Controls dedicated manufacturing facility in Oxfordshire. Following turnkey installation, a through LEV and COSHH commissioning report was conducted to ensure working compliance for the system.
Mike Lloyd comments, “As specialist LEV manufacturers for the woodworking industry, this is the type of job we excel at. Having the ability to manufacture in house s keeps our prices competitive and our lead times short. Reactive to customers demands quickly and effectively is key to our success”.
The Woodwork Dust Control Company was established in 1991. Its range of products include small stand-alone portable dust units to extensive hopper systems custom designed for servicing large woodworking facilities. In addition to bespoke solutions the company also offers a comprehensive range of spares and consumables to suit most makes and models of system.
